= shimmer, a manager for assets embedded in git repositories
This project is a manager for embedding project assets including
issue, merge-request, and mailing-list threads within a Git repository,
replacing centralized storage on forges with distributed storage in
swarms of cooperating Git repositories.
It is currently in an alpha state because the Web interface is rather
crude. When that's fixed, it will move off Gitlab and self-host.
Read the header comment of the script "shimmertest" to see how
to trial-run this code.
This code relies on the git branch --show-current option and thus
needs the underlying Git to be at version 2.22 or later.
//Note: This project uses itself for issue tracking. Please use shimmer
//itself to register and read issues, not the GitLab issue tracker.
//When merge-request support is available we will no longer use
//GitLab merge-requests, either.
Installation prerequsites are described in INSTALL.doc.
